|Ed Beales is one of the original members of the Chatham Community Band Jazz Ensemble and became its director in 2015. He has also been a member of the community band since 2004, and currently serves as the vice president of the organization.
Ed performs regularly as a trumpet player with professional and community ensembles in New Jersey. As a professional, he shares lead and solo seats in the Marty Hoff /Ed Beales Big Band and is a frequent guest with Conclave, a contemporary jazz quintet. Ed also performs regularly as a guest soloist for sacred and secular events and is founder of The Peninsula City Band of Bayonne.
Ed is active with the Maplewood Community Music program sitting in as a section member with both the Maplewood Concert Band and The Swingtime Big Band. Other associations include Reeds Rhythm and Brass Jazz Band, and Linsy Ferris and the Skyliner Big Band. Ed is a board member of the Hand In Hand School, associated with Trinity Parish and Grace Lutheran Church in Bayonne and an active member of their music program.
Mr. Beales holds a master’s degree in educational leadership. He is employed by the Bayonne Board of Education and has been teaching children with disabilities for three decades. He and his family reside in Bayonne.
